Louise Ibbs is a British-born contemporary jewellery artist and goldsmith based in The Netherlands. With a passion for jewellery that began in childhood, Louise studied Silversmithing, Jewellery and Allied Crafts at London Guildhall University before working in the clock and watch and jewellery industries. After years away from making, she returned to goldsmithing and is now developing an independent practice in Rotterdam.
Her work explores the relationship between organic and geometric form, structure and fragility, and the tension between what is held and what is suspended. Working predominantly by hand, Louise uses traditional goldsmithing techniques alongside experimental fabrication and surface treatments to create one-of-a-kind jewellery and sculptural objects. Precious metal, stone and light become interconnected elements within her work. Increasingly, her practice is concerned with transformation — the movement from organic and geological structures towards order, geometry and crystalline form.
Each piece is made by Louise in her Rotterdam studio, where traditional craftsmanship becomes a means of exploring contemporary form.
Her work will be exhibited at Milan Jewellery Week 2026, where her architectural frames and organic gemstones will be displayed together in a collection of interactive pieces.
